
Getting the Heat Right in Industrial Baking
Ever had a batch of bread come out with a burnt bottom and a pale top? It’s a nightmare. When you’re baking at scale, the difference between a perfect golden crust and a ruined tray is often just a single degree. That’s why we don’t use standard heaters. We use twin tube thermal elements. They’re built for speed and, more importantly, they spread heat evenly across the entire oven—floor and ceiling.
Why the twin tube setup?
Here’s the thing: a single tube usually creates hot spots. You get those annoying patches where the bread overcooks while other areas struggle to keep up. By using two tubes instead of one, we double the surface area without taking up more space. It lets us pump out more infrared heat without having to crank the voltage to a dangerous level. Think of it like a warm thermal blanket wrapping around your dough. Everything cooks evenly. No more guessing games.
The secret is in the quartz
We make these elements out of high-purity quartz. Why? Because quartz doesn’t freak out when the temperature swings wildly. When your controller tells the oven to cool down, quartz lets go of that heat fast. This is huge. If your heater stays hot for too long after the power cuts, you’ll overshoot your target temperature and scorch the crust before you even realize what happened. With quartz, you get a much tighter grip on the actual temperature.
A few things to keep in mind
Installing these is pretty easy—they just drop right into your existing racks. But you do need to keep an eye on your power load. These twin tubes pull a lot of current. If your wiring is too thin, you’ll get voltage drops. That means some zones of your oven will be hotter than others, and you’re right back to square one with inconsistent loaves. And a word of warning: be gentle. Quartz loves heat, but it hates being hit. One clumsy move during a cleaning shift can crack a tube, and if that happens, you’ll have to swap the whole unit out. Treat them with a bit of care, and they’ll take care of your bread.
