
Getting Your Sidel Matrix Lamps Exactly Right
Here is the problem with swapping out OEM lamps in a Sidel Matrix oven: the temperature curve is finicky. If the wattage or spectral output is off by even a tiny bit, your preheating gets wonky. Suddenly, you’re dealing with uneven wall thickness or that annoying pearlescence in your PET bottles. It’s a headache you don’t need. Matching the heat, not just the size We don’t just make lamps that “fit” the slot. We build them to mirror the original heat density. If a lamp is slightly off-spec, you’re stuck in a lose-lose situation. It either doesn’t heat the preform enough, or it burns the plastic. To stop that from happening, we obsess over the ohms of the filament. We make sure the power draw lines up perfectly with what your machine is already expecting. The magic is in the coating The real secret to a steady temperature curve is the coating. We use specific shortwave IR coatings that actually “sink” into the PET absorption bands. This means the heat goes into the plastic instead of just bouncing off the surface. We also use high-purity quartz. Why? Because these tubes take a beating. The rapid cycling is brutal, and the glass needs to handle that thermal shock without cracking. Just plug and play We use standard industrial connectors, so these are true drop-in replacements. You won’t have to mess with your wiring or fiddle with the lamp holders. It just works. One quick tip, though. High-wattage shortwave lamps put out an incredible amount of localized heat. Even the perfect lamp can’t do its job if your reflectors are oxidized or dirty. If you’re swapping lamps, do yourself a favor and give the reflectors a good scrub. It’s the only way to make sure you’re actually hitting your target temps.
