Getting the heat right These lamps run on high voltage because you need that raw heat density to soften PET preforms fast. When you use a high-wattage tube, the ramp-up is quick. That keeps your cycle times tight and your line moving. Just a heads-up: double-check your wiring and power supply. If your setup can’t handle the amp draw, you’ll end up burning out the terminals, and nobody wants to deal with that on a Tuesday morning. The “nitty-gritty” on the glass We use heavy-wall quartz glass. Why? Because cheap glass warps when things get hot. Ours stays straight. We also use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. They fit snug. That’s important because a loose connection causes arcing, and arcing kills lamps. Simple as that. And about the coating—we’ve tuned it for shortwave IR. This means the heat actually sinks into the PET wall instead of just scorching the surface. It stops that annoying “pearlescence” (those cloudy white streaks) from ruining your bottles. Putting them in Swapping these out is easy. They fit right into the existing footprint of your oven. No messing around with reflectors or modifying lamp holders. You just pop them in and go. One thing to keep in mind: high-output lamps make the inside of the oven hot. Really hot. If you’re pushing the wattage to max out your speed, make sure your cooling blowers are clean and actually working. If the airflow is choked, you’re going to overheat the oven frame and kill your lamps way faster than you should. Keep it breezy, and they’ll last.
