If you’re running Krones Contiform machines, you know the drill. Those infrared lamps are the heart of the operation—they soften the PET preforms just enough so the blow process actually works. But let’s be honest: OEM lamp prices can be a total gut punch. When the costs spike, you start looking for a replacement. But you can’t just throw any bulb in there. If the thermal profile is off, your bottle walls end up uneven, and suddenly you’re dealing with “pearling” or thin spots in the base. That’s a nightmare no one wants on their shift. The nitty-gritty on power We build our replacement lamps to hit the exact wattage and voltage your oven expects. Whether you’re running 230V or 400V, the goal is the same: get enough heat density to penetrate that PET material fast. It sounds like a small detail, but if the wattage is off by even 5%, the heat becomes patchy. And patchy heat means bad bottles. Built to take the heat We use heavy-wall quartz glass for a reason. These things get incredibly hot, and cheap glass bows under the stress. Ours don’t. Plus, we use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. They’re simple push-in fits. You can swap them out during a scheduled stop without having to rewire the whole oven. We also add a specific coating to the quartz. It basically tells the heat, “Go toward the preform, not the oven walls.” It’s a smarter way to manage energy. A quick heads-up Look, saving money on parts is great, but there’s a catch. High-output lamps put a lot of pressure on your electrical contacts. Before you pop in a new tube, take a second to look at your sockets. If they look pitted or charred, stop. A loose connection at the base causes arcing, and that’ll burn out your brand-new lamp ends way too fast. It’s a simple way to bring your maintenance spend down without sacrificing quality. As long as your cooling blowers can handle the ambient heat, you’ll get the same punch as the OEM parts—just without the OEM price tag.
